OP Amendment Meeting on Backlot Development and Trailers

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT NO. 2 

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Whitestone is holding a Public Meeting pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, on Thursday, September 30th, 2021.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the Public Meeting is to inform the public and seek public consultation on two (2) Official Plan amendments under consideration which will address (i) trailers on vacant lots; and (ii) building on vacant lots that do not front on waterfront or a year round road.

Date and Location of Public Meeting 

Date:               Thursday, September 30th, 2021

Time:               6:30 p.m.

Location: The Council meeting will be held by Zoom video conferencing with an option for ‘call in’ only. The Public is welcome to access the meeting and instructions will be placed on the Council agenda and the agenda will be posted on the Municipal website.

Fundraising for Expansion of Nurse-Practitioner-led Clinic

Whitestone Council in partnership with the West Parry Sound Health Centre (and with the assistance of several grant funding opportunities) will be expanding the Nurse Practitioner-led Clinic in 2022.  Design and planning is underway in support of this wonderful  community asset to meet the needs of our community and surrounding community.

Statutory Public Meeting pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, re. Vacant Lots

  • Trailers on vacant lots – Currently the Municipality prohibits placement of trailers or motorhomes on existing vacant lots. Council is proposing to allow placement of trailers or motorhomes for up to 30 days at least once in every calendar year.
  • Building on vacant lots that do not front on waterfront or a year round road – Council is considering a new policy to allow for existing vacant lots to be eligible for a building permit.
  • Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
